NewsNovember 7, 2004The Outlaws beat Vassar 32-26 today in a hard fought rugby match. It was a very good game of rugby to play in and from what i've heard it was a blast to watch. It was full of hard hits and long runs, and it all ended with a ferocious goal line stand that clinched the victory. The outlaws will face the Coast Gaurd Academy this Saturday, November 13th at the University of Massachusetts. Further information about the match will be given sometime this week if you would like to attend.
November 3, 2004The Outlaws have continued their undefeated streak defeating Colgate 18-3 in Bavtavia, NY for the Division II state championships. The next team that the Outlaws will be facing is Vassar College. This will be held at Bonaventure on Sunday November, 7th. This will be the northeastern quarterfinals. Everyone is encouraged to come and cheer us on.
November 2, 2004 The site has been updated and is now running again. March 29, 2004 SBURFC Alumni Members, So far, it looks like we are going to have the biggest turnout since the 25th Anniversary game in 2000. We have since renamed the event- "The Rob Peraza Rugby Alumni Game", and it has a lot more meaning to all of us. A good turnout like this really helps to keep Rob's memory alive. To date, 65 alumni members have committed to being there. If your name is not listed below, please contact Billy Kelly (bill.kelly@opco.com) and let him know you plan on attending. A complete itinerary will posted in the next few weeks, but here is what we have so far: - Book a room. The DeSoto is 800-325-0043. Country Inn & Suites (for all the rich guys...) (800) 456-4000. - Friday Night (4/30)- people getting in to town are meeting up at The Burton. A few guys are getting there early to play golf, call if you course if you have questions @716-372-7692. Working on an after-hours site and thanks to Bob Sims who has a hook with "3 Olives Vodka"- a social event is in the works. (site to be determined) - Saturday morning (5/1)- the entire team will be meeting up at the September 11th Memorial (12:00) next to the Reilly Center, where the Peraza Family and possibly Fr. Dan will lead a short prayer. We will then go to the field for a 1:00 kick off. Post game party will be held at "The Other Place" ($30 per alumni/ $20 per undergraduate- feel free to "adopt" a younger guy..you remember what money was like towards the end of the semester!) where we will have open bar- beer, mixed drinks, refreshments, food (bbq chicken, salad...). A portion of the fee will be donated by Danny Gleason to "The Robert David Peraza Scholarship" at SBU. March 28, 2004We played at the Golden Keg Tournament in Niagara yesterday and finished second. As a team we played very well defeating Buffalo State in the first round, Niagra in the second, and losing a hard fought game to Canisius in the finals. It was a competitive tournament, and we had a great time. For more information on the details of the games, you will be able to find it in the schedule section very soon. Although we lost the tournament, we got some well deserved recognition and we got promoted from Division 3 to Division 2. Great work team! March 25, 2004Whatsup guys, the site is finally up, sorry it took so long. I still need to finish adding all the information like the schedule and the message board, but that should be done soon. Check back for updates and information regarding the season. If you guys have any ideas or suggestions feel free to let me know, also if i don't have a picture of you or you see that your information on the roster page isn't complete, get it to me. If you are not on the rosters page let me know and send your information along with a picture to changaj@sbu.edu. I'd also like that thank my buddy Eric Hui who was the person that put this site together. I will be updating the site and adding the info, but he is the one who made it. February 8, 2004On February 14th we will be driving down to Buffalo to enter the Winterfest 7's Tournament. We are sending a strong side down there and expect very good results. Wish us luck! As of now we have 53 alumni (and counting) that have committed to come to our annual alumni weekend match. We have alumni traveling from as far as England right now so this should be a great weekend for rugby. All alumni are welcome and should contact Billy Kelly at bill.kelly@opco.com if they decide on coming. There will be a social following the alumni defeat, including food and drinks.
